CFD & prototyping

Aerodynamics research

Student research comparing morphing and flapped airfoils in CFD, plus a separate RC ground-effect prototype.

Problem & constraints

I studied two questions: how morphing camber compares with a conventional flap, and how flying near the ground affects an RC aircraft.

The CFD study used a two-dimensional airfoil model. I checked mesh independence and used published wind-tunnel data for comparison.

Design & approach

I used ANSYS Fluent to compare a FishBAC-style morphing airfoil with a flapped airfoil, checked mesh independence, and compared with published wind-tunnel data. In a separate project, I built an RC prototype to explore ground effect.
