Problem & constraints

I wanted to design, build, and launch a model rocket, accounting for stability and recovery before fabrication.

The body, fins, motor mount, and recovery system had to fit together. Printed-part mass and placement affected the rocket’s balance.

Design & approach

I designed the rocket in OpenRocket and made the custom printed parts. The repository includes the OpenRocket file, a 3D model, a bill of materials, photos, and launch media.

I used OpenRocket to review the configuration and stability before printing. An Estes C6-5 motor provided propulsion.
